Student demonstrators blocked the Ministry of Agriculture off and on between the 20th of January and 5th of February, 2008. They utilized iron pipes, cinder blocks, wood, metal chains, and padlocks to close off the main entrances to the Ministry.
The Minister of the Agriculture Department, Francois Severin, promised that in a very short period good actions would be taken to satisfy the eleven points of the petition that the students had asked the government to take for the country's rural economy, agronomists, and farmers.
