A large turnout of members and supporters of Fanmi Lavalas demonstrated in Port-au-Prince on Friday, February 29, 2008, the fourth anniversary of the ouster of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The demonstrators called for the return to the country of the former president overthrown in a U.S backed coup d’état four years prior. Within the protest were numerous contingents from grassroots civil society and popular organizations. Members of the human rights group Fondasyon 30 Septamn wore t-shirts of their leader Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine who was kidnapped close to six months ago.
